Pre-op

Tuesday evening, while dinner was simmering on the stove, hubby was due any minute to come home from work, and Butters was cruising around the house alternately giggling and screaming; I decided that I would gather up the diaper bag and get our stuff together before Wednesday's big pre-op visit.

I walked into the closet to find NO DIAPER BAG.

Feeling anxiety brushing its fingers up and down my neck, I frantically began to search all over the house while trying to remember the last time I saw it.  And that's really pointless and stupid, because if you do that whole "Think back to the last place you remember seeing it," you don't get really far because you can't remember.  I can't even keep track of the last time I was able to go to the bathroom.

I kept asking myself,  "How can you possibly lose an entire bag that is big enough to hold approximately five pounds of baby necessities and accessories?"

Hubby helped to look for the bag but came up empty-handed.  We gave up the search, and at least found an old bag in the garage.  As luck would have it, Wednesday morning, as we were bundling up Butters to get him settled into the stroller, there was the diaper bag sitting perfectly on the floor of the backseat.  Apparently, it had wedged itself from underneath the front seat and was probably jarred from its resting place courtesy of hubby's driving.

The diaper bag mystery was solved, and Butters' pre-op went well.  He is growing very weary of various people poking objects into his ears but they were clear, fortunately.  We just have to make sure that they stay that way for another week, at least.

Our next stop was to our new audiology/implant center to go over last minute details and to pick out processor colors.  I decided to go conservatively, not something I usually do, but the brown and beige were nice enough.

It was a really long day, and as usual, Butters refused to take a nap, insisting on taking everything in.

This is one more huge thing behind us.  Now, we just have to get past the biggest thing yet.

  1. I am glad you found the bag and had a good appointment! I think all hospitals should give new moms one of those "key beepers" to help find everything, including our marbles ;) Good Luck Butters!!!
